The New Range Rover Velar 2024: What Have Changed?

2024 MODEL YEAR RANGE ROVER VELAR

The New Range Rover Velar 2024: What Have Changed?

The Range-Rover Velar was first introduced in late 2017. It introduced a new category to the Land-Rover's Range-Rover lineup. Ever since then, Velar has had a growing crowd of customers and a huge fan base. On the internet, Velar is flattered as "The Dream Car of SUV lovers" & the "Most Beautiful Car". Not only that, but Velar also won the World Car Design of the Year title at the 2018 World Car Awards.

Design

Since the first edition, Velar didn't receive any major design updates
until now. It had some changes with its plug-in hybrid debut, but it wasn't that noticeable.

Velar is based on the design language of the 4th gen Range-Rover. As now it's the 5th gen, Velar has received major interior design updates to keep up to date with the Range-Rover lineup.

Land-Rover's new 11.4-inch floating curved display is the most notable change to the interior. Unlike before, the centre console is curved and blends into the dashboard. All dials and buttons are gone from the centre console and the gear shifter is in the middle instead of the gear shifter dial as it was originally on the First Edition Velar.

Previously, users claimed it was too complex to have two touch screens and hard to handle with touch controls for most functions like A/C and radio controls. Now those two screens and all the knobs and buttons are gone. Instead, all functions are integrated into the centre screen with different tabs for each function. Even the steering wheel now has tangible marks on the touch controls.

Instead of them, all the interior architecture remains the same. Now there's a fabric material option (Kvadrat TM wool) instead of leather which is 58% lighter than leather.

Technology

The Online Pack2 has embedded apps such as Amazon Alexa and Spotify. The vehicle can receive updates online via Software-over-the-air (SOTA) technology.

Like with other Range-Rovers, Velar comes with the Meridian System which uses up to 23 speakers and 1,300 W of amplifier power.

NanoeX air purification technology which was introduced to Velar with the previous Plug-in hybrid model can purify interior air with PM2.5 filtration technology which can reduce harmful allergens and particles inside.

electric air suspension.

The Pixel LED technology in the headlights can shadow up to 4 oncoming vehicles and can adjust the beam width, intensity & range according to speed and road conditions with a maximum range of 500 meters.

Velar comes with Intelligent All-Wheel Drive (AWD) with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics (IDD) which controls torque distribution on each wheel for better traction.

Also comes with Terrain Response 2 system and All Terrain Progress Control which is a feature that gives cruise control options for each terrain condition. The Advanced Tow Assist technology can assist in reversing manoeuvres when towing.

There are more technologies like Adaptive Dynamics Configurable Dynamics which monitor body and steering movements and allow the driver to select different chassis and powertrain settings. There is an optional locking rear axle differential too.
